More than a century ago, a mapmaker took in the whole city at once. The rivers meeting at the Point, the bridges, the hillside neighborhoods stacked above the smoke. He drew it all by hand. This isn't a modern design made to look old, and it isn't a rough scan either. I take the original map and restore it by hand. Upscaled, cleaned, the damage and haze of a century lifted out, so the detail prints sharp the way the mapmaker drew it.

Pittsburgh is where our river ends. Every drop of the Allegheny, from the big woods, past the oil towns, around the last bends, finishes its run at the Point. That made it the right city to close the series.
