A historical bird's-eye map of Butler, Pennsylvania, printed full wrap on ceramic. Somebody drew this town by hand, building by building, back when you could still take in the whole place from one hill.
I restore these myself. The scans come in soft and stained, and I upscale them, clean them up, and pull a century of damage out until the linework prints sharp again.
Butler sits up in the plateau country east of the Allegheny, on the Connoquenessing. County seat, and for a long stretch a factory town. The first Jeep was built here in 1940 by the American Bantam Car Company. Bantam drew it up in about two days and the Army handed the contract to bigger companies anyway, which is a very Butler kind of story.
